Graduate Researcher

Daniella Muyangayanga
I am a Ph.D. student in Anthropology at FSU. I earned my undergraduate degree from the Catholic University of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. My research interests are at the intersection of social practices, culture, human–animal interactions, and emerging infectious diseases, with a particular focus on zoonotic diseases. I examine how cultural practices and socio-ecological environments shape vulnerability to infectious diseases, as well as understanding patterns of disease transmission, prevention, treatment, and community response. My research focuses particularly on Ebola virus disease and dengue fever among vulnerable populations and rural communities. Through this work, I aim to support public health programs in designing effective interventions that respond to the specific social, cultural, and environmental contexts of affected communities
